Five Puppies Rescued After Being Abandoned in Freezing Woods

Five Puppies Rescued After Being Abandoned in Freezing Woods

In a heartbreaking case of animal abandonment, five tiny puppies were discovered in a cardboard box, left in the woods during freezing rain. Exposed to the harsh elements with no food, warmth, or protection, these defenseless animals were fighting for their lives.

A concerned couple, out for a walk, stumbled upon the shivering pups and immediately contacted the Mountain Shelter Humane Society for help. Understanding the urgency, the Adoption Center staff instructed them to bring the puppies in right away.

Upon arrival, it became clear that the situation was dire. One of the puppies was in a state of hypothermia—so cold that its body temperature didn’t even register on a thermometer. Barely moving and with a dangerously weak heartbeat, survival seemed uncertain. But thanks to the swift and expert care of the Adoption Center’s staff, the puppy was revived after an hour of intensive emergency treatment.

Now, all five puppies are safe, warm, and well-fed at Mountain Shelter Humane Society Adoption Center. They are on the road to recovery, growing stronger each day. However, their fight isn’t over. Providing medical care, food, and shelter for these innocent lives comes at a cost, and the Adoption Center is asking for the community’s support.

Donations are urgently needed to cover veterinary expenses and daily care. Anyone who wishes to help give these puppies a second chance can contribute to Mountain Shelter Humane Society by visiting their website www.mtnshelter.org/donate or by contacting the Adoption Center directly at (706) 781-3843.

“These puppies endured something no animal ever should,” said Cassie Channell - Adoption Center Director. “Now, they have a future—but we need our community’s help to get them there. Every donation makes a difference in giving these resilient little survivors the love and care they deserve.”
